Quiroartropatia diabética é uma condição associada ao diabetes de longa data e é caracterizada por rigidez e contraturas de pele, tecidos moles, bainhas dos tendões e pequenas articulações das mãos. Está associada a um risco aumentado de complicações microvasculares. As contraturas em flexão dos dedos podem impedir a aposição dos dedos opostos quando as mãos são colocadas na posição de "oração". Postula-se que o aumento da glicosilação da pele e do tecido periarticular, degradação do colágeno comprometida, microangiopatia e neuropatia diabética contribuam para o desenvolvimento da condição. | |||

Diabetic cheiroarthropathy is a condition associated with long-standing diabetes and is characterised by stiffness and contractures of the skin, soft tissues, tendon sheaths and small joints of the hands. It is associated with an increased risk of microvascular complications. Flexion contractures of the fingers may prevent apposition of opposing fingers when the hands are placed in the "prayer" position. Increased glycosylation of the skin and periarticular tissue, impaired collagen degradation, microangiopathy and diabetic neuropathy are postulated to contribute to development of the condition. | |||

Diabetic cheiroarthropathy is a condition associated with long-standing diabetes and is characterised by stiffness and contractures of the skin, soft tissues, tendon sheaths and small joints of the hands. It is associated with an increased risk of microvascular complications. Flexion contractures of the fingers may prevent apposition of opposing fingers when the hands are placed in the "prayer" position.
