Bullous pemphigoid may be localised to a limited area of skin in up to 30% of cases. A characteristic site is the skin of the lower limbs. The course of the disease is mild and the disease is responsive to treatment. There are suggestions that it might be triggered by factors such as trauma, radiotherapy, cryotherapy and ultraviolet therapy. The immunopathological features are the same as bullous pemphigoid.
