Doença vascular comum da retina em idosos. É causada pela oclusão de um dos ramos da veia central da retina. Esse diagnóstico ocorre com o extravasamento, ou vazamento, de sangue para as áreas dentro e ao redor do humor vítreo do olho. O humor vítreo é o gel transparente que preenche o espaço entre o cristalino e a retina do olho. Uma variedade de condições pode resultar em vazamento de sangue para o humor vítreo, o que pode causar comprometimento da visão, moscas volantes e fotopsia.

This is a common retinal vascular disease of the elderly. It is caused by the occlusion of one of the branches of central retinal vein. This diagnosis is with the extravasation, or leakage, of blood into the areas in and around the vitreous humour of the eye. The vitreous humour is the clear gel that fills the space between the lens and the retina of the eye. A variety of conditions can result in blood leaking into the vitreous humour, which can cause impaired vision, floaters, and photopsia.
