This is a common retinal vascular disease of the elderly. It is caused by the occlusion of one of the branches of central retinal vein. This diagnosis is with a restriction in blood supply to tissues, causing a shortage of oxygen and glucose needed for cellular metabolism (to keep tissue alive).
