Chronic pericarditis with adhesion between parietal and visceral pericardium is called chronic adhesive pericarditis. These are mostly seen in rheumatic disease. Less commonly, it may be due to infection by pyogenic bacteria, tuberculosis etc. In some cases, the cause is unknown.
