Iododerma is a rare cutaneous reaction to systemically administered iodine. Formerly it was seen principally as a chronic eruption from prolonged exposure to iodide-containing medications such as cough medicines. More recently it has been associated with a more acute eruption following administration of iodide-containing radiocontrast media. It is characterised by vegetating acneform nodules and plaques typically affecting the face, neck, forearms and flexures.
