Mycobacterium marinum infection typically presents as a single inflammatory, sometimes ulcerated skin nodule or warty plaque at the site of inoculation. It may then spread proximally with development of secondary nodules along the course of draining lymphatics (sporotrichoid spread). Common sources of infection are tropical fish tanks and swimming-pools [Dermatology TAG].
