Stimulant-induced mood disorder including amphetamines, methamphetamine and methcathinone but excluding caffeine, cocaine and synthetic cathinones, with depressive symptoms is characterised by the presence of depressive symptoms judged to be the direct consequence of stimulant use. Manic symptoms are not present. The symptoms are not better accounted for by a depressive disorder or a bipolar disorder, as might be the case if the depressive symptoms preceded the onset of the stimulant use or if the symptoms persist for a substantial period of time after cessation of stimulant use.
