Manic symptoms are not present. The symptoms are not better accounted for by Depressive disorder or Bipolar disorder, as might be the case if the depressive symptoms preceded the onset of the sedative, hypnotic or anxiolytic use or if the symptoms persist for a substantial period of time after cessation of sedative, hypnotic or anxiolytic use.
