A disease of the pulmonary system in neonates, caused by an infection with the gram-positive bacteria Staphylococcus aureus in utero. This disease is characterised by respiratory distress, and may be fatal. Transmission is by vertical transmission. Confirmation is by identification of Staphylococcus aureus in the neonate.
