A síndrome de dor primária crônica na bexiga é a dor crônica percebida na região da bexiga urinária associada a sofrimento emocional significativo ou incapacidade funcional e pelo menos um outro sintoma, p.ex., piora da dor com enchimento da bexiga e aumento da frequência urinária durante o dia e/ou noite. Os sintomas não são melhor explicados por uma infecção ou qualquer diagnóstico de dor visceral crônica secundária . A síndrome dor primária crônica na bexiga é multifatorial. O diagnóstico é adequado independentemente dos fatores biológicos ou psicológicos identificados, a menos que outro diagnóstico explique melhor os sintomas apresentados.

Chronic primary bladder pain syndrome is chronic pain perceived in the region of the urinary bladder that is associated with significant emotional distress or functional disability and at least one other symptom, e.g., worsening of the pain upon bladder filling and urinary frequency during day-time and/or night time. The symptoms are not better explained by an infection or any diagnosis of chronic secondary visceral pain. Chronic primary bladder pain syndrome is multifactorial. The diagnosis is appropriate independently of identified biological or psychological contributors unless another diagnosis would better account for the presenting symptoms.
