A dor de dente crônica é a dor crônica causada por um transtorno envolvendo os dentes ou tecidos associados (dor pulpar, periodontal ou gengival) e que ocorre por duas horas ou mais por dia, em pelo menos 50% dos dias, durante pelo menos três meses. O fator causal típico é cárie ou trauma em um ou mais dentes ou tecidos associados. Além do exame clínico, as imagens (radiografias intraorais, tomografias etc.) podem facilitar o diagnóstico correto.
