Condição causada por anormalidade genética, divisão celular anormal ou óvulo ou espermatozoide de baixa qualidade. Esta condição é caracterizada por uma gravidez malsucedida, imaturidade fetal ou morte embrionária que não é expelida do útero por pelo menos 8 semanas e tamanho uterino diminuído. Essa condição também pode se manifestar com infecção materna, coagulação sanguínea, calcificação fetal e reabsorção de produtos da concepção. A confirmação é feita por exame de imagem.
