Afecção causada por infecção pela bactéria Gram-negativa Neisseria gonorrhoeae e Escherichia coli, ou pela bactéria Gram-positiva Staphylococcus aureus ou Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Esta condição é caracterizada por um acúmulo focal de material purulento e neutrófilos dentro ou sobre o tecido prostático, disúria, febre e dor suprapúbica. A confirmação é feita por ultrassom transretal para identificar o tamanho e localização do abscesso, e uma amostra de urina para identificar leucócitos.

This condition is characterised by a focal accumulation of purulent material and neutrophils within or on the prostatic tissue, dysuria, fever, and suprapubic pain.
