Paniculite pelo frio resultante da exposição de recém-nascidos à baixa temperatura ambiente ou da aplicação local de objetos frios (p.ex., bolsas de gelo para o tratamento de taquicardia supraventricular neonatal). Os recém-nascidos são particularmente susceptíveis devido a uma alta proporção de gordura saturada/insaturada no tecido adiposo subcutâneo com a consequente elevação do ponto de congelamento da gordura.
