O eczema asteatótico se desenvolve a partir da asteatose cutânea. Neste último, rachaduras e fissuras do estrato córneo epidérmico produzem uma pele descamativa com um eritema reticulado abaixo das escamas. Ocorre particularmente na porção inferior das pernas. É mais comum em idosos e é provocada por uma combinação de perda de oleosidade e dessecação da epiderme. Se a inflamação progride, pode tornar-se mais pruriginosa e eczematosa, eczema asteatótico. | |||

Asteatotic eczema develops from asteatosis cutis. In the latter cracking and crazing of the epidermal stratum corneum produces a flaky skin with a reticulate erythema beneath the scales. It occurs particularly on the lower legs. It is more common in the elderly and is provoked by a combination of defatting and desiccation of the epidermis. If inflammation progresses then it may become more pruritic and eczematous, asteatotic eczema. | |||

Asteatotic eczema develops from asteatosis cutis. In the latter cracking and crazing of the epidermal stratum corneum produces a flaky skin with a reticulate erythema beneath the scales. It occurs particularly on the lower legs. It is more common in the elderly and is provoked by a combination of defatting and desiccation of the epidermis. If inflammation progresses then it may become more pruritic and eczematous, asteatotic eczema.
