Esteatohepatite não alcoólica (NASH) é a forma histológica de doença hepática gordurosa não alcoólica (DHGNA) em que as características principais são a evidência histológica de lesão de hepatócitos (como a balonização ou alteração hialina de Mallory) e inflamação lobular importante. NASH está frequentemente associada a fibrose de distribuição pericentral e perissinusoidal (um padrão de fibrose portal também existe, particularmente em crianças). NASH é a forma clinicamente progressiva da DHGNA com desfechos clínicos que incluem eventos cardiovasculares e cirrose ou carcinoma hepatocelular. NASH is the clinically progressive form of NAFLD with clinical outcomes including cardiovascular events, and cirrhosis or hepatocellular carcinoma.
