Pneumonite crônica da infância é uma forma rara de doença intersticial pulmonar (DIP) pediátrica que compartilha as características clínicas e radiológicas de outras formas de DIP (tosse, taquipneia e infiltrados intersticiais em exames de imagem do tórax) e que abriga alterações histopatológicas específicas que incluem espessamento difuso de septos alveolares, hiperplasia de células epiteliais alveolares tipo 2 e presença de células mesenquimais primitivas dentro dos septos alveolares.

Chronic pneumonitis of infancy is a rare paediatric form of interstitial lung disease (ILD) sharing clinical and radiologic features with other forms of ILD (cough, tachypnoea, and infiltrative opacities on chest imaging) and harbouring specific histological abnormalities including diffuse thickening of alveolar septa, hyperplasia of type 2 alveolar epithelial cells (AEC), and presence of primitive mesenchymal cells within the alveolar septa.

Chronic pneumonitis of infancy is a rare paediatric form of interstitial lung disease (ILD) sharing clinical and radiologic features with other forms of ILD (cough, tachypnoea, and infiltrative opacities on chest imaging) and harbouring specific histological abnormalities including diffuse thickening of alveolar septa, hyperplasia of type 2 alveolar epithelial cells (AEC), and presence of primitive mesenchymal cells within the alveolar septa.
