Acquired backward flow through the neo-aortic valve of pulmonary origin, that is, the native pulmonary valve that has become the functional neo-aortic valve. Examples of hearts in which a neo-aortic valve has been created include the aortopulmonary anastomosis (Damus-Kaye-Stansel, Norwood procedures), pulmonary valve autograft (Ross procedure), and arterial switch operation.
