Inflamação das meninges devida a infiltração maligna de carcinomas, leucemias e linfomas. A síndrome é clinicamente caracterizada por cefaleia, rigidez de nuca, febre e fotofobia, com progressão potencial para estupor e coma. A apresentação pode ser aguda, subaguda ou crônica. O diagnóstico pode ser auxiliado por exames de neuroimagem e análise do líquido cefalorraquiano, que pode revelar uma pleocitose linfocítica, proteína elevada e a presença de células malignas na citologia.

Inflammation of the meninges due to malignant infiltration from carcinomas, leukaemias and lymphomas. The syndrome is clinically characterised by headache, neck stiffness, fever and photophobia with potential progression to stupor and coma. The presentation may be acute, subacute or chronic. Diagnosis may be aided by neuroimaging and spinal fluid analysis which may reveal a lymphocytic pleocytosis, raised protein and the presence of malignant cells on cytology.
