Qualificadores de domínios de traços podem ser aplicados a Transtornos de Personalidade ou Dificuldade de Personalidade para descrever as características da personalidade do indivíduo que são mais proeminentes e que contribuem para a perturbação da personalidade. Domínios de traços são contínuos com características normais de personalidade em indivíduos que não têm Transtorno de Personalidade ou Dificuldade de Personalidade. Domínios de traço não são categorias diagnósticas, mas sim representam um conjunto de dimensões que corresponde à estrutura subjacente da personalidade.
