Transtorno exibicionista é caracterizado por um padrão sustentado, focado e intenso de excitação sexual - conforme manifestado por pensamentos, fantasias, impulsos ou comportamentos sexuais persistentes - que envolve expor os próprios genitais para um indivíduo desavisado em locais públicos, geralmente sem convidar ou ter a intenção de contato mais próximo. Além disso, para que seja feito o diagnóstico de transtorno exibicionista, o indivíduo deve que ter colocado em prática esses pensamentos, fantasias ou impulsos ou os mesmos lhe gerarem sofrimento acentuado. Transtorno exibicionista exclui especificamente comportamentos exibicionistas consensuais que ocorrem com o consentimento da(s) pessoa(s) envolvida(s), assim como formas de exibicionismo sancionadas socialmente. | |||
