Incongruência de gênero da adolescência e da idade adulta é caracterizada por uma incongruência marcante e persistente entre o gênero vivenciado por um indivíduo e o sexo que lhe é atribuído, o que muitas vezes leva a um desejo de 'transição', a fim de viver e ser aceito como pessoa do gênero vivenciado, por meio de tratamento hormonal, cirurgia ou outros cuidados em saúde para alinhar o corpo do indivíduo, tanto quanto desejado e na medida do possível, com o gênero vivenciado. O diagnóstico não pode ser atribuído antes do início da puberdade. Variações de comportamento e preferências de gênero por si só não são uma base para atribuir o diagnóstico. | |||

Gender Incongruence of Adolescence and Adulthood is characterised by a marked and persistent incongruence between an individual’s experienced gender and the assigned sex, which often leads to a desire to ‘transition’, in order to live and be accepted as a person of the experienced gender, through hormonal treatment, surgery or other health care services to make the individual’s body align, as much as desired and to the extent possible, with the experienced gender. The diagnosis cannot be assigned prior to the onset of puberty. Gender variant behaviour and preferences alone are not a basis for assigning the diagnosis. | |||

Gender Incongruence of Adolescence and Adulthood is characterised by a marked and persistent incongruence between an individual’s experienced gender and the assigned sex, which often leads to a desire to ‘transition’, in order to live and be accepted as a person of the experienced gender, through hormonal treatment, surgery or other health care services to make the individual’s body align, as much as desired and to the extent possible, with the experienced gender. The diagnosis cannot be assigned prior to the onset of puberty. Gender variant behaviour and preferences alone are not a basis for assigning the diagnosis.
