A deficiência de trealase é caracterizada por diarreia e vômitos após a ingestão de trealose, um dissacarídeo encontrado principalmente em cogumelos. A doença é muito rara na maioria das populações, mas a incidência foi estimada em pelo menos 1 em 13 na Groenlândia. A intolerância à trealose isolada é devida a uma deficiência de trealase (TREH; 11q23.3), uma glicoproteína de membrana do tipo borda em escova.
