Neoplasia maligna do fígado que ocorre quase exclusivamente em bebês, embora tenham sido relatados casos isolados em crianças maiores e adultos. Grosseiramente, o hepatoblastoma é sólido, bem circunscrito e mais frequentemente solitário do que múltiplo. Microscopicamente, a maioria dos tumores é composta exclusivamente por elementos hepatocíticos imaturos. Cerca de um quarto dos hepatoblastomas contém um componente estromal que pode ser indiferenciado ou se desenvolver em osso ou cartilagem.

Grossly, hepatoblastoma is solid, well circumscribed, and more often solitary than multiple. Microscopically, most of the tumours are composed exclusively of immature hepatocytic elements. About a fourth of hepatoblastomas contain a stromal component that may be undifferentiated or develop into bone or cartilage.
