Infecção fulminante cada vez mais relatada causada por Emmonsia e espécies de fungos semelhantes a Emmonsia. É observada no contexto de imunossupressão profunda, especialmente na infecção por HIV. Isso contrasta com a adiaspiromicose pulmonar, que também é causada por espécies de Emmonsia, mas tipicamente afeta indivíduos imunocompetentes. Sua apresentação clínica é semelhante à de histoplasmose e blastomicose. O envolvimento de pele e pulmões é característico, mas o SNC e o sangue também podem ser afetados. | |||

An increasingly reported fulminant fungal infection caused by Emmonsia and Emmonsia-like fungal species. It is seen in the context of profound immunosuppression, especially from HIV infection. This is in contrast with pulmonary adiaspiromycosis, which is also caused by Emmonsia species but typically affects immunocompetent individuals. Its clinical presentation is similar to those of histoplasmosis and blastomycosis. Skin and lung involvement is characteristic but the CNS and blood may also be affected. | |||
