Doença das meninges, causada por uma infecção pelo vírus da caxumba. Esta doença é caracterizada por fotofobia, vômito, febre, artralgia, dor de cabeça, rigidez do pescoço ou convulsões. Esta doença também pode se manifestar com pele pálida e manchada ou uma erupção cutânea característica. A transmissão ocorre por disseminação hematogênica para as meninges após a inalação de secreções respiratórias infectadas ou transmissão por gotículas. A confirmação é feita pela identificação do vírus da caxumba em um esfregaço bucal ou amostra de sangue. | |||

This disease may also present with pale, blotchy skin or a distinctive rash. Transmission is by haematogenous spread to the meninges after inhalation of infected respiratory secretions or droplet transmission.
