Doença das meninges, causada por uma infecção pelo vírus Varicela zoster. Esta infecção é caracterizada por febre, rigidez do pescoço, dor de cabeça, vômitos, fotofobia e, às vezes, um estado mental alterado ou dores no corpo. A transmissão ocorre por meio de disseminação hematogênica para as meninges após a inalação de secreções respiratórias infectadas ou contato direto com o fluido das vesículas. A confirmação é feita pela identificação do DNA do vírus da varicela zoster ou IgG anti-varicela zoster no líquido cefalorraquidiano. | |||
