Doença causada por uma infecção pela bactéria Borrelia. Esta doença é caracterizada por episódios repetidos de febre, com o episódio febril durando aproximadamente 3 dias, seguido por estado afebril de aproximadamente 7 dias. A transmissão ocorre por meio da picada de um carrapato mole infectado (do gênero Ornithodoros). A confirmação é feita por identificação de bactérias espiroquetas em esfregaço de sangue, medula óssea ou líquido cefalorraquidiano. | |||
