Transtorno desmielinizante caracterizado por inflamação e uma lesão ampla, ou lesões, de destruição mielínica. Esclerose difusa é um transtorno raro caracterizado por uma placa de desmielinização inflamatória da substância branca, que frequentemente simula uma neoplasia ou abcesso intracraniano. Usualmente afeta crianças enre 5 a 14 anos de idade. Caracteriza-se por uma ou duas lesões dispostas simetricamente, medindo pelo menos 2 x 3 cm, com envolvimento do centro semioval no cenário de sintomas incomuns para esclerose múltipla. | |||||||||||||||

It usually affects children between 5 and 14 years old .
