Picadas por insetos da ordem Siphonaptera. As pulgas são ectoparasitas sem asas sugadores de sangue de mamíferos e pássaros. A pulga humana, Pulex irritans, é rara, exceto em comunidades muito adensadas com baixos padrões de higiene. No entanto, os humanos são comumente picados por pulgas de cães, gatos ou pássaros, particularmente quando as pulgas não têm acesso ao seu hospedeiro habitual.

The human flea, Pulex irritans, is rare other than in congested communities with low standards of hygiene. Humans are however commonly bitten by dog, cat or bird fleas, particularly when fleas do not have access to their usual host.
