Hemiballism, characterized by unilateral sudden, violent, flinging, or ballistic high amplitude movements, can occur in the setting of abscesses most likely developed from neuroinfectious disease. A subthalamic toxoplasmic abscess is the most common cause of hemichorea-ballism in AIDS patients.
