Chronic secondary musculoskeletal pain associated with peripheral neurologic disease is chronic pain localised in joint(s), bone(s), tendon(s) or muscle(s) that is related to peripheral neurological disorders classified elsewhere. The pain is not directly attributable to the pathogenesis of the neurologic disease. Rather, it is due to the altered biomechanical function of those structures consequent upon altered nervous system control. Chronic secondary musculoskeletal pain associated with peripheral neurologic disease includes pain due to altered motor function and altered sensory function. The pain may be spontaneous or movement-induced. Forms of chronic neuropathic pain should not be coded here.
