O pênfigo vegetante é uma forma incomum de pênfigo vulgar. O início ocorre na meia-idade. Autoanticorpos dirigidos contra componentes do desmossomo, principalmente desmogleína 3, causam fenda intraepidérmica. A doença apresenta-se com bolhas superficiais geralmente das flexuras evoluindo para massas vegetantes que eventualmente se tornam secas, hiperceratóticas e fissuradas (tipo Neumann) ou pústulas que logo evoluem para placas vegetantes (tipo Hallopeau). As lesões orais estão sempre presentes. | |||||||||||||||

Pemphigus vegetans is an uncommon form of pemphigus vulgaris. Onset occurs in middle age. Autoantibodies directed against desmosome components, chiefly desmoglein 3, cause intraepidermal clefting. The disease presents with superficial blistering usually of the flexures evolving into vegetating masses which become which eventually become dry, hyperkeratotic and fissured (Neumann type) or pustules that soon progress to vegetating plaques (Hallopeau type).
