Os tumores oligodendrogliais histologicamente compreendem um espectro contínuo que varia de neoplasias bem diferenciadas a tumores francamente malignos. O sistema de classificação da OMS reconhece dois graus de malignidade: grau II da OMS para tumores bem diferenciados (oligodendroglioma) e grau III da OMS para oligodendroglioma anaplásico.
