Doença das meninges causada por uma infecção pelo parasita protozoário Trypanosoma brucei. Esta doença é caracterizada por cefaleia, ciclos de sono anormais, confusão ou déficits neurológicos. A transmissão ocorre por meio de disseminação hematogênica para as meninges após uma picada de uma mosca tsé-tsé infectada. A confirmação é feita pela identificação de Trypanosoma brucei no sangue, líquido cefalorraquidiano ou líquido de um linfonodo infectado. | |||||||||||||||
