Motor neuron involvement is often termed as 'lower motor neurone' or 'subacute motor neuropathy' . Lower motor neurone symptoms and signs are often confined to lower extremities and have to be distinguished from other motor neurone diseases, neuropathies or radiation injury. Histologically a patchy loss of motor neurons occurs in the spinal cord, resulting in a distal muscle atrophy and weakness. Relation to antibodies : unclear.
