A distinct and disabling form of eczema characterised by irritable, scaly, fissured and often painful hyperkeratotic patches affecting the soles of the feet and plantar surfaces of the toes. It may be accompanied by similar changes on the palms of the hands. The aetiopathogenesis is poorly understood.
