Síndrome de fibromialgia (SFM) é uma forma de dor crônica generalizada, que é definida como dor difusa em pelo menos 4 das 5 regiões do corpo, que persiste ou é recorrente por mais de 3 meses e está associada a sofrimento emocional significativo (ansiedade, raiva/frustração ou humor deprimido) ou incapacidade funcional (interferência nas atividades da vida diária e redução da participação nos papéis sociais). A fibromialgia é multifatorial: fatores biológicos, psicológicos e sociais contribuem para a síndrome dolorosa. SFM está associada a distúrbios do sono, disfunção cognitiva e sintomas somáticos. FMS is multifactorial: biological, psychological and social factors contribute to the pain syndrome. FMS is associated with sleep disorders, cognitive dysfunction and somatic symptoms.
