Geladura é uma lesão causada pela formação de gelo nos tecidos, resultante do contato com ar frio, líquidos ou metais. É mais comumente devido à exposição excessiva da pele a temperaturas ambientais abaixo de zero. O risco de ferimentos é agravado pelo vento. Os locais mais comumente afetados são os dedos das mãos e dos pés, orelhas, nariz, bochechas e queixo com lesão limitada à pele e partes moles. Necrose de pele de espessura completa e lesão de estruturas mais profundas, incluindo músculos e ossos, podem ocorrer com a exposição prolongada ao frio. | |||||||||||||||

It is most commonly due to excessive exposure of skin to sub-zero environmental temperatures. The risk of injury is exacerbated by wind. The most commonly affected sites are fingers, toes, ears, nose, cheeks and chin with injury limited to skin and soft tissues.
