Dor musculoesquelética primária crônica é uma dor crônica nos músculos, ossos, articulações ou tendões que se caracteriza por sofrimento emocional significativo (ansiedade, raiva/frustração ou humor deprimido) ou incapacidade funcional (interferência nas atividades da vida diária e participação reduzida em papéis sociais). A dor musculoesquelética primária crônica é multifatorial: fatores biológicos, psicológicos e sociais contribuem para a síndrome dolorosa. O diagnóstico é adequado independentemente dos fatores biológicos ou psicológicos identificados, a menos que outro diagnóstico explique melhor os sintomas apresentados. The diagnosis is appropriate independently of identified biological or psychological contributors unless another diagnosis would better account for the presenting symptoms.
