Afonia é a incapacidade de produzir voz. É considerada mais grave do que a disfonia. Assim como a disfonia, a afonia pode ser causada por esforço, uso excessivo da voz, lesões, anomalias estruturais da laringe ou transtornos neurológicos distônicos.
