A atresia esofágica compreende um grupo de anomalias congênitas com interrupção da continuidade do esôfago, com ou sem comunicação persistente com a traqueia. Em 86% dos casos há fístula traqueoesofágica distal, em 7% dos casos não há conexão fistulosa, enquanto em 4% dos casos há fístula traqueoesofágica sem atresia. Os demais casos são de pacientes com AE com fístula traqueoesofágica proximal, ou proximal e distal. | |||||||||||||||

In 86% of cases there is a distal tracheoesophageal fistula, in 7% of cases there is no fistulous connection, while in 4% of cases there is a tracheoesophageal fistula without atresia.
