Enfisema lobar congênito é uma anomalia pulmonar de desenvolvimento caracterizada por sobredistensão do lobo afetado, levando a compressão e deslocamento do tecido pulmonar normal adjacente e do mediastino. Na maioria dos casos, os sintomas aparecem durante o período neonatal ou na primeira infância. Clinicamente, as crianças apresentam sinais de desconforto respiratório, ocorrendo frequentemente com uma infecção do trato respiratório inferior que agrava o aprisionamento de ar e torna o paciente sintomático. | |||||||||||||||

Congenital lobar emphysema is a developmental lung anomaly characterised by over distension of the affected lobe and leading to compression and displacement of adjacent normal lung tissue and mediastinum. In the majority of cases, symptoms appear during the neonatal period or in early childhood. Clinically, children present with signs of respiratory distress, frequently occurring with a lower respiratory tract infection that aggravates air trapping and renders the patient symptomatic. | |||||||||||||||
