Necrobiose lipoídica é uma condição cutânea incomum na qual o colágeno dérmico degenerado é cercado por uma resposta inflamatória granulomatosa de modo a produzir placas brilhantes, marrom-avermelhadas ou amareladas na pele, particularmente na face anterior das pernas. Em casos graves, a pele afetada pode ulcerar. Está associada, na maioria dos casos, mas não em todos, a diabetes mellitus subjacente, cujo início pode preceder.

Necrobiosis lipoidica is an uncommon skin condition in which degenerate dermal collagen is surrounded by a granulomatous inflammatory response to produce shiny, red-brown or yellowish patches in the skin, particularly on the shins. In severe cases the affected skin may ulcerate. It is associated in the majority of but not all cases with underlying diabetes mellitus, the onset of which it may precede.
