+A capilarite resulta do extravasamento de glóbulos vermelhos de capilares com vazamento para a derme e se manifesta inicialmente como máculas finamente pontilhadas róseas à púrpura, afetando mais comumente os membros inferiores. À medida que o ferro é liberado e convertido em hemossiderina, a pele fica dourada ou marrom. Vários padrões de capilarite foram descritos e receberam nomes separados, dependendo da distribuição, curso de tempo, extensão e grau de pigmentação, e presença ou não de espessamento epidérmico. Os processos subjacentes envolvidos em todas essas variantes são muito semelhantes e de causa desconhecida. A histologia pode mostrar inflamação leve ao redor dos capilares, mas sem vasculite.

As iron is released and converted into haemosiderin, the skin stains gold or brown. Various patterns of capillaritis have been described and given separate names depending on the distribution, time course, extent and degree of pigmentation and presence or otherwise of epidermal thickening. The underlying processes involved in all these variants are very similar and of unknown cause. Histology may show mild inflammation around capillaries but no vasculitis.

As iron is released and converted into haemosiderin, the skin stains gold or brown.
