Paroníquia bacteriana aguda é uma infecção aguda, geralmente por Staphylococcus aureus, dos tecidos perioniquiais de um dedo. Pode resultar de lesão local, p.ex. uma picada de espinho em um sulco ungueal lateral, uma farpa, por unhas encravadas quebradas ou unhas roídas, mas também ocorre frequentemente como um episódio durante o curso da paroníquia crônica, quando outros organismos podem estar envolvidos, incluindo estreptococos, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, organismos coliformes e Proteus vulgaris . | |||||||||||||||
