+O eczema asteatótico se desenvolve a partir da asteatose cutânea. Neste último, rachaduras e fissuras do estrato córneo epidérmico produzem uma pele descamativa com um eritema reticulado abaixo das escamas. Ocorre particularmente na porção inferior das pernas. É mais comum em idosos e é provocada por uma combinação de perda de oleosidade e dessecação da epiderme. Se a inflamação progride, pode tornar-se mais pruriginosa e eczematosa, eczema asteatótico.

It occurs particularly on the lower legs. It is more common in the elderly and is provoked by a combination of defatting and desiccation of the epidermis. If inflammation progresses then it may become more pruritic and eczematous, asteatotic eczema.

Asteatotic eczema develops from asteatosis cutis. In the latter cracking and crazing of the epidermal stratum corneum produces a flaky skin with a reticulate erythema beneath the scales. It occurs particularly on the lower legs. It is more common in the elderly and is provoked by a combination of defatting and desiccation of the epidermis. If inflammation progresses then it may become more pruritic and eczematous, asteatotic eczema.
