Síndrome causada por uma infecção pela bactéria gram-positiva Staphylococcus. Esta síndrome é caracterizada por febre, bolhas, eritema, grandes áreas de descamação da pele ou sinal de Nikolsky. A transmissão ocorre por contato direto ou indireto com um indivíduo infectado, por fômites ou por transmissão iatrogênica. A confirmação é feita pela identificação de Staphylococcus em uma amostra de sangue ou pele.

A syndrome caused by an infection with the gram-positive bacteria Staphylococcus. This syndrome is characterised by fever, blisters, erythema, large areas of skin peel, or Nikolsky’s sign. Transmission is by direct or indirect contact with an infected individual, through fomites, or by iatrogenic transmission. Confirmation is by identification of Staphylococcus in a blood or skin sample.
