+Colite isquêmica é a forma mais comum de lesão isquêmica do intestino e ocorre com maior frequência em pessoas idosas. A doença pode resultar de eventos oclusivos ou não oclusivos, principalmente no território da artéria mesentérica inferior, em ramos colônicos da artéria mesentérica superior e nas veias mesentéricas superior e inferior. A flexura esplênica e a junção retossigmoide, onde existe baixa perfusão, são comumente afetadas.

The disease can result from either occlusive or nonocclusive events, mainly in the territory of the inferior mesenteric artery, in colonic branches of the superior mesenteric artery, and in the superior and inferior mesenteric veins. The splenic flexure and rectosigmoid junction, where low perfusion exists, are commonly affected.
